Great American Music Hall San Francisco, CA with Dora Flood
I've been hearing stories of the live shows put on by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. I've heard tales of mayhem, bar clearing brawls, the band being banned from establishments all over the world. Plus, the records are alright, so... It also always seems that when BJM plays, I'm out of town, I've got tickets to another show, etc, so when i finally landed a free night when they were playing, I got excited.
That excitement lasted all of two minutes. Between the mind numbingness of Dora Flood to the unbelievably unenthused and unimpressive BJM, let's just say I made it over to El Rio to see Low Water with time to spare. A huge disappointment. Five guys standing around, not moving, no projection, no love. Too bad. i guess I should have been tipped off by the emptiness of the Great American. I've never seen that small a crowd in GAMH, but I guess others have been dissapointed before me.
