Bottom of the Hill San Francisco, CA part of NoisePop 2002
The Makers. Initially signed to garage rock label Estrus, The Makers went in a more glam direction when they signed with Subpop. I thought their last record Rock Star God was going to take them over the top, but it didn't. The first time I saw the Makers, it was in Morgantown, West Virginia, in between Nashville Pussy and Thee Headcoatees. The Makers blew everyone off the stage.
I've seen The Makers twice before at The Bottom of the Hill and was disappointed both times. This time was no different. I dont know if it the sound or what but the experience just isn't the same. Check out Rock Star God, however if you want a great rock record. I'll probably keep going to see the Seattle quartet, hoping for the magic of the first time.
