The Murder City Devils have been around for a long time. In that time, they've toured the world, playing to audiences large and small, building a loyal following one city at a time. That's what they credit their success to, relentless touring. Spending an average or 200 days a year on the road, The Murder City Devils have done it the old fashioned way.
Seattle, Washington is where he Murder City Devils started and were discovered by the legendary record label Subpop. Spencer, Dann, Nate, Coady, Derrick, Leslie, and of course Roadie Gabe have been selling out venues all over the globe ever since. They've just released their third record on Subpop and are at a place where singer Spencer says "I don't think we need more."
We spoke with the Devils before a two show stop at San Francisco's home of rock, the Bottom of the Hill about how they've worked their way up to one of America's most talked about bands. Unfortunately, the band was as good as their word During our interview, Dann said he couldn't imagine the group going on if one fo the members were to leave. Well, Leslie left the band in the fall of 2001 and so the band has parted ways. Derek now plays with Pretty Girls Make Graves and Spencer, Coady, Nate, and roadie Gabe have moved on to Dead Low Tide.
